RKYHS Students Work to Help the Homeless

The RKYHS Homeless Awareness Club has been busy helping the homeless and learning more about the plight of the homeless community.

Twelve RKYHS students went on a trip to Covenant House, a homeless shelter for youth in Newark. They went on a tour of the facility and were able to see first hand all of the wonderful programs and services the shelter provides. This will give the students insight into the plight of the homeless before their upcoming solidarity sleepout on March 14, as the proceeds raised will help benefit homeless youth in Covenant House.

Earlier that week, RKYHS students volunteered on a cold night to distribute clothing and food to the homeless community who are gathered around Newark’s Penn Station. This is a monthly program to assist those who are in great need.
