The children in gan chaverim at BPY learned all about the solar system and ended an exciting unit with an awesome imaginary trip into outer space! The students put on space suits, attached oxygen tanks and were off to travel in their rocket ship. It was a long trip and they needed to eat special space food (apple sauce in a bag eaten with a straw). They made several stops in space. First, they visited the moon where they used aluminum foil and silver paint to create crater filled moons.
Then the children were off to Mars where they used red sand to create sand art. The final stop was the dwarf planet Pluto. Since Pluto is so far from the sun, it is a really cold place. On Pluto, they painted with colored ice cubes. They returned to Earth tired and exhausted after a fun-filled day!
