RKYHS Student-Led Battle of the Bands Draws Hundreds of Attendees

This past Thursday, RKYHS hosted the ninth annual Battle of the Bands. The entirely student-run event featured bands from RKYHS and from many other yeshivot in the tri-state area.

It was a very social event, with several hundred people attending, from RKYHS and other schools, along with parents as well. Bands practiced for months to prepare for the big stage and were excited to come and perform for the crowded Epstein Stein Auditorium. With an RKYHS student committee entirely in charge of planning the program, it gave a chance for the students to be hands-on and run the event. Each band played two songs to rousing cheers from the audience. The winner was selected at the end. It was a fun event to attend or perform in, and it was a huge success in fundraising for a worthy organization. Congratulations to the band from Ma’ayanot on winning the competition.

The RKYHS student committee was excited to continue the event’s nearly decade-long mission of supporting children in need. The RKYHS student committee chose No Kid Hungry to receive the proceeds from the event. No Kid Hungry provides meals and resources for the estimated one in six children in the U.S. facing hunger. The money raised at the event will go far, as every $1 donated provides 10 meals to hungry children
