Purim is a time of excitement and fun, but is also a wonderful time for introspection and reflection. In the days leading up to the holiday, TABC was kove’ah itim for both. On Tuesday night, March 19, TABC held its annual pre-Purim Late Night Learning. The program was sponsored by the Tokayer family in memory of their late son, Ilan, who graduated TABC in 2003. The night kicked off with an interactive, engaging shiur from Rabbi Zev Reichman about why we do not say Hallel on Purim. Afterwards there were various shiurim given by Rabbi Chaim Jachter, Chanan Strassman, Rabbi Michael Hoenig and Rabbi Ben Krinsky. In the middle of all the learning, the students enjoyed a Dougie’s dinner of poppers, wings and yes, the ever-popular blooming onion. It was a great night and a great way for everyone to get in the Purim spirit!
The following day, on Ta’anit Esther, TABC students, along with students from 46 other yeshivot across North America, participated in a live interactive Atzeret Tefilla. The entire school gathered together in the beit knesset to listen to live streamed speakers from across the globe, to recite Tehillim in unison and to sing meaningful songs which reflected on the day. Students at Netiv Aryeh in Yerushalayim led the program with music and song. This was the first program of its kind and TABC is very proud of its participation. TABC students truly felt the power of prayer.
On Wednesday night, TABC hosted its much-anticipated Purim chagiga. The gym was packed with students, parents and faculty who came out to celebrate together. The dancing was non-stop as more and more students entered the gym. There was a live performance by Tzuzamin, a band of TABC students, grammen and of course some amazing food. There were fresh Cinnabons and ice cream for everyone. The dancing lasted well into the night with everyone leaving having kicked off their Purim in the best way possible.
