After reading a biography of Thomas Edison and learning about his immense curiosity, the third grade took an exciting trip to Thomas Edison National Historical Park, in West Orange. The students were inspired by Edison’s desire to learn and invent. One thing the students took away from the trip was that even though Thomas Edison failed many times, he always kept trying!
The students had an opportunity to participate in a group activity of creating an invention of their own to help and solve a problem. These inventions ranged from a relaxation room for the park employees to a robot that helps Mrs. Edison clean her home. The students (and chaperones) had a great time and learned so much!
