Goldstein Sets Single-Season Record for YU Women Hits

(Courtesy of yumacs.com) The Yeshiva University softball team earned a split of its non-conference doubleheader against Baruch College, at Bahoshy Field, on Monday evening. The Bearcats (6-16) won the opening game, 9-1, while the Maccabees (4-24) were victorious in game two, 12-7.

Junior left fielder Basya Goldstein made history in the opening game, as her single up the middle in the fifth inning of game one was her 28th hit of the season, which sets a program single-season record. Goldstein broke her own record, as the Teaneck resident produced 27 hits during the 2018 season.

“Basya is a player that works really hard,” Yeshiva University head coach Danielle DeStaso said. “She always talks about going to the batting cages with her dad before the games, and this shows in her performance.”

“The girls worked really hard to come back from the first game and win the second,” DeStaso said. “It is not always easy to come off a loss by continuing to have a positive attitude and win like they did.”
