Congregation Ahavas Achim of Highland Park invites members of the community to its inaugural Spring street fair and barbecue competition on Sunday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The street fair and barbecue will include the following attractions:
Food vendors: Southside Sandwich Shop, Sushiana, Gotts Coffee, Rita’s Ices, and AA Run Chicken & Waffle Cone and Pickle on a Stick Booth.
Activities: moon bounce, edible sand art, dunk tank, face painting, classic cars (kids can go in and view including a 1914 Ford Model T), fire trucks (kids can go in and view).
Barbecue Competition: Teams compete to make the best burgers, chicken thighs, short ribs and chicken wings; judges include Yosef Mutterperl from Southside Sandwich Shop, Michael Kornblum from Sushiana, Rebecca Hersh, director of Main Street Highland Park, and Gayle Brill Mittler, mayor of Highland Park. Chicken Wing sampler will be available for purchase by patrons, who will get to vote on the best chicken wing.
Street fair vendors: RC2U, ShoppingBadger, Judaica Gallery, RPRY Plus, Pink Zebra Candles, Patty Angel Jewelry, Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski, Color Street, Usborne, Willow Boutique, Scarlet Paws, Pittie Party Rescue, Stay Sharp Kitchen, Embellished Clothing/ BNB Clothing, Doily Lady, Norunningwithscissors, Miss Bea’s Soap Shoppe, Strange Creations, Regal Wraps, and Highland Park First Aid Squad.
Kol Yehudim/1640 WJPR Radio will be broadcasting live at the event.
