JEC Primer Goes on Safari

The JEC Primer journey around the world culminated in a spectacular safari adventure! The children disembarked from the buses and drove off in special off road open vehicles. They saw over 70 species of animals from around the world in their natural habitats. Some of the animals even poked their heads into the children’s vehicles, to learn about humans! The curious giraffes were lucky enough to be fed sweet potatoes by the excited children.

From the gnu to the ostrich to the kangaroos and more, the children observed animals and heard how they live and thrive. The children were fascinated to hear about how animals raise their young to be independent, though some are born blind, deaf and unable to walk. Did you know that bears stay with their mamas until only 3 years old? Did you know that all-white animals with blue eyes are not true albinos, and can produce colored offspring? The primer children do! Many of the children already knew that sea lions can be trained, and they all enjoyed a fun and funny sea lion show at the end of the guided tour. The tour guides enjoyed the JEC too, commenting that it was the best behaved group they’d ever had.

This incredible trip was the perfect capstone to their trip around the world. From languages to foods to landmarks to habitats, the children had amazing hands-on experiences that gave them an appreciation for the marvelous world around us.
