(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC) The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades will hold its annual open house for the entire community on Sunday, September 8, from 1-4 p.m., where members and guests can sample classes, take part in the Thurnauer School of Music’s instrument petting zoo, and enjoy a bounce house, a balloonologist, face painters, roaming entertainers and more. There will also be giveaways and special one-day-only discounts. Current and prospective members are all welcome and can enjoy the JCC fitness centers, outdoor pool and splash park, gyms, nursery school playgrounds, tumble room, tennis and racquetball courts, and the JCC fields as part of their open house experience.
Sample classes for children that will be showcased at the event include dance, drama and young singer demos and workshops, Stavri Tennis Academy workshops, crafting classes, an Israel art project, Neil Klatskin Summer camp activities, the instrument petting zoo and an introduction to the new Musikgarten music program, filled with exciting songs, musical movement, and dramatic play and storytelling. Teens can enjoy a Zumba demo, Stavri Tennis demos, crafting, an Israeli art project, and an introduction to the Idea School Makerspace. Sample classes and demonstrations for adults will include Zumba, kettlebells, boot camp, and Ironbound boxing classes, as well as core and total body conditioning workshops; a speed training event, nutrition and acupuncture consultations with the Graf Center for Integrative Medicine, in association with Englewood Health; complimentary chair massages and facial evaluations by JCC spa professionals, and the chance to speak with certified personal trainers to discuss personal fitness questions. Adult visitors will also be given demos and samples of Repechage spa products, a revitalizing seaweed-based skin care line available at the spa.
JCC representatives will be on hand to speak about JCC programs and membership, give guided tours of the facilities and help with class registration.
The JCC is also offering a special promotion in connection with the event. People will have the opportunity to get $150 off membership if they join by October 31; and, as an added incentive, if they join at the open house they will receive $50 in JCC Cash. Members who refer a friend will also receive $50 in JCC cash, along with the friend they refer.
Programs and facilities available to JCC members include two state-of-the-art fitness centers, outdoor splash park and pools, year-round indoor pools, more than 90 free group-exercise classes, CPR-trained swim instructors and lessons for all ages, a luxurious spa, free orientation and fitness assessment, basketball, racquetball and tennis courts, teen fitness center for ages 6-13, early childhood center and nursery school, day camps, Thurnauer School of Music, School of Theater Arts, Dance school, cultural and educational programming for adults, and more.
