(Courtesy of Acheinu) On Tuesday, September 24, Jews from around the world are being asked to unite and pray in the annual Day of Jewish Unity coordinated by Acheinu, a division of Dirshu, the world’s largest Torah organization.

This year’s Day of Jewish Unity is a focused “call to action” to pray for peace and the safety and security of the Jewish people in light of the worldwide rise in anti-Semitism. Since Nazi Germany there has not been this scourge of anti-Semitism on such a large scale and in such prominent arenas.

Can this trajectory be changed? From time immoral the solution is through prayer. Acheinu is calling for all Jews to merely recite two passages of psalms, Chapters 20 and 130.

The goal of this global initiative is that heartfelt prayers by Jews worldwide can help suppress the recent rise of anti-Semitism. Acheinu also calls on Jews worldwide to refrain from gossip and pledge to honor all people with dignity and respect. This day will afford both Jews and non-Jews across the globe the opportunity to refrain from bigoted speech and pray that this unfortunate trend in anti-Semitism will cease.

Over the past years, hundreds of thousands of people have participated in Acheinu’s annual Day of Jewish Unity initiative from every corner of the globe. Joining is a commitment of merely five minutes and can be performed at home, in a synagogue, at a school or place of work.

This year, with the threat of anti-Semitism rising, all Jews are encouraged to participate.

Consistent with the organization’s global reach and bringing people together through prayer and study, Dirshu will be holding its World Wide Siyum at the Prudential Center in the NY/NJ Metro area on February 9, 2020, and at other locations around the world beginning in December 2019.
