Tenafly Chabad Academy middle school students have been preparing both mentally and physically for Rosh Hashanah. The excitement started with a pre-chag school-wide dvar Torah by Rabbi Shain, who discussed the difference between a keren, the horn of a ram, and a shofar, which is derived from the horn. He explained that for as long as the keren is physically attached to the ram, it is used as a physical weapon to thwart off the enemy. However once it is polished and purified, it becomes a metaphysical spiritual tool to connect with Hashem, which helps us do teshuva and thus protects us from harm. The students also had the opportunity to pack Rosh Hashanah bags for the entire LPS/TCA community. What a beautiful unifying way to start a sweet new year!
