RPRY Students Build Bikur Cholim Sukkah

Rabbi Peach Raymon Yeshiva has always emphasized the important midah of chesed to its students through various volunteer programs. Before Sukkot, the eighth grade boys at RPRY single-handedly built the sukkah for the Chaim V’Chessed Bikur Cholim House in New Brunswick. The Chaim V’Chessed Bikur Cholim House is a hospitality center that is always open to Jewish people who may stop by anytime to eat, sleep or simply relax. While building the sukkah, the students also had the chance to learn about Sukkot first hand. This volunteer program that cultivates empathy, menschilchkeit, and a sense of responsibility to help others becomes more than a lesson in class. It becomes part of their sense of who these students are as people and as Jews.
