(Courtesy of Touro College) Touro College and University System will host a panel program on legal challenges and opportunities for Israel on October 29 at 7 p.m. The program will feature Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, founder and president, Shurat HaDin Israel Law Center, and Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean, director global social action agenda, Simon Wiesenthal Center. It will be moderated by Abe Foxman, national director emeritus, ADL.

This program is the first in a four-part series featuring a lineup of international jurists, legal experts and Supreme Court justices to explore democracy, human rights and the rule of law. “Our goal is to combat anti-Semitism and enlighten the New York Jewish community about the beauty of Israeli law,” said Touro President Dr. Alan Kadish.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper has overseen the Wiesenthal Center’s international social action agenda for over four decades. Through the Center, he tackles issues that include worldwide anti-Semitism and extremist groups, Nazi crimes, interfaith relations and the struggle to thwart the anti-Israel divestment campaign and worldwide promotion of tolerance education.

Upcoming lectures in the series will include global anti-Semitism, comparative jurisprudence and resurgent global authoritarianism.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It will be held at the UJA-Federation of New York, 130 East 59th Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY. Reservations are required. To make a reservation or for further information, contact [email protected].
