As students settle into the school year with the Chagim behind them, Moriah’s Kitah Hey is excited to begin learning Navi. They have begun learning Sefer Shoftim, which includes the many exciting stories and lessons of Shimshon HaGibor, Devorah Ha’Naviah, Gideon, Yiftach etc. The teachers have incorporated many hands-on and multi-sensory activities to keep the students engaged. Keeping their hands busy, and their creative juices flowing, will allow for the subject to be better internalized. Navi will engage the auditory, visual and tactical senses, allowing for a well-rounded educational experience. One of the more recent activities was a project on the Ma’agal Hashoftim. The class created a spinning wheel that charts the cycle of failure and repentance of the Jewish People. This chart will be used throughout the year during each lesson.
Every lesson ends with a discussion on the relevant life lessons that have been learned. The goal is to make sure that the students relate to the story in a modern and personal way. Another goal is to inspire the students in their realization that they are an important link in the golden chain of Jewish history.
