BPY proudly joined the Metropolitan Yeshiva Junior Torah Bowl League this year. Torah Bowl is the premier Torah competition that provides yeshiva junior high school students with the opportunity to study Chumash with Peirush Rashi to a level of competitive proficiency that is unmatched by any other Torah contest. In the past 23 years, the participating students have studied every pasuk in Chumash Bereishit, Shemot, Bamidbar and Devarim (five cycles), with Peirush Rashi. This year, the Torah Bowl League took on Sefer Vayikra. BPY middles school students interested in joining Torah Bowl signed up to learn portions of Parashot Vayikra and Tzav. On October 17, talmidim and talmidot traveled to RPRY, in Edison. With buzzers in hand, they competed with four other schools in the division, as they answered difficult questions. Rav Yaakov and Morah Merav, BPY’s Torah Bowl coaches, were so impressed by the students’ enthusiasm, eagerness to learn Torah and school spirit! For their very first meet, the students did an outstanding job. Each team won one of their games and scored in many of the others. When the students returned to school, they were filled with such excitement and pride in what they had accomplished! They cannot wait for the next meet coming up in December!
