Touro Pharmacy and Lander Flatbush Form Pharm Fast Track

(Courtesy of Touro College) Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP) in Harlem and Touro’s Lander College of Arts & Sciences – Flatbush have created a new pre-pharmacy fast track for Touro Flatbush students that will allow qualified students to earn both bachelor’s and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degrees in seven years or fewer, rather than the eight years usually needed to complete both.

“Being part of Touro has advantages. We want to give our undergraduates the unique opportunity to jumpstart rewarding careers in one of the most respected professions, at a significant savings in tuition,” said TCOP Dean Henry Cohen, PharmD. “We are proud to partner with the Lander College of Arts & Sciences, where rigorous, high-quality, professionally-oriented programs and steadfast emphasis on ethics and values blend perfectly with TCOP’s mission to educate and inspire compassionate, influential pharmacists committed to improving health nationally and globally.”

Said Dr. Robert Goldschmidt, Executive Dean at Touro in Flatbush, “We are excited to offer this fast track to a meaningful career in pharmacy. This is another example of how Touro students can receive a quality education and accelerated routes to an array of respected graduate and professional programs in medicine and health sciences—where Touro is a national leader.”

Under the agreement, Flatbush students can apply to TCOP after completing pre-requisites in science, math, humanities, social sciences, English and economics, including a minimum of 60 credits in residence at Lander Flatbush. Also required are academic achievement, favorable recommendations, a personal interview at TCOP, completion of the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT), and submission of a formal application to TCOP through the Pharmacy College Application Service. Interested students can apply from now through June 1, 2020.

Under the articulation agreement, Lander Flatbush agrees to provide counseling, advising and resources to students interested in fast tracking their application to TCOP. Students admitted to TCOP must satisfactorily complete their first year of pharmacy school to obtain their bachelor’s degree from Lander Flatbush.

TCOP recently signed similar linkage agreements with Touro’s New York School of Career and Applied Studies; CUNY’s Hunter College, Lehman College and Medgar Evers College; and Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah. Learn more about TCOP’s linkage agreements.
