MTA Stands Up for Shalom

On Thursday, November 7, MTA partnered with Shalom Task Force and hosted a Go Purple event to raise awareness about domestic violence. Many talmidim, rebbeim and faculty wore purple to show their support for those affected by this important issue and learned what it means to be an upstander, one who stands up for others. Director of Guidance Tamar Sheffey and Social Worker Rabbi Baruch Schonbrun, led informative sessions for juniors, focusing on different forms of domestic abuse and how positive communication tools can be used to avoid abusive behaviors. They also discussed difficulties in relationships and how to handle them in a healthy manner. Head of School Rabbi Joshua Kahn spoke with freshmen and sophomores about the importance of healthy relationships. Seniors will participate in trainings with Shalom Task Force later in the year, where they will learn more about this serious topic.
