(Courtesy of Heichal HaTorah) This past weekend, Camp Shoresh held its second annual basketball tournament, sponsored by Lander College. Twelve mesivta/high school teams from across the U.S. competed. The Heichal Hornets won both JV and varsity competitions. The JV MVP was freshman Shmuel Weiss, who finished with 19 points and 11 steals in the championship game.

Varsity MVP was Pacey Jacoby. Jacoby had a miraculous 3 point shot as time expired forcing the finals into overtime! Yehuda Spivak finished with a remarkable 26 points. Early in the tournament Heichal’s own Tuvia Minchenberg saved Heichal’s championship hopes by shooting lights out on Motzei Shabbos. Minchenberg had five 3 pointers.
