BCHSJS Jewish Volunteer Corps Class Visits Daughters of Miriam

In the Jewish tradition, there is a mitzvah to honor the elderly. At the Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies students take part in a service learning class entitled the Jewish Volunteer Corps. In this class, the students are actively involved in volunteering with a group of residents at the Daughters of Miriam in Clifton. After their third visit this year, on the bus ride back to school some of the students shared, “We made the people happy”; “They seemed to enjoy our presence”; “I feel like we were able to communicate really well with them” and “We learned more about them.”
