Over 100 people gathered at Anshei Lubavitch last Friday night to celebrate an inspiring Shabbos together. “The concept of this weekend was, simply, ‘Shabbos!’” said Director Rabbi Levi Neubort. “The holiest day of the week needs no embellishment.” On Friday night, Rabbi Neubort retold the familiar story of Yosef Moker Shabbos, the Talmudic tale of a poor man who set aside his meager earnings each week in order to purchase special food in honor of Shabbos. Just as Yosef bought the fisherman’s best catch, and discovered a precious jewel inside, the Fair Lawn community came together and found within themselves the immeasurable joy of Shabbos.
As darkness fell, Rabbi Neubort and musical guest Ber Cohen led the assembled crowd in a meaningful, musical Havdala ceremony. Lit by strands of sparkling twinkle-lights, and fueled by a delicious dessert buffet, the crowd continued singing songs of faith and inspiration late into the night.
