The TABC JV basketball team took a trip north of the border to participate in the Oren Grunbaum Tournament in Montreal, Quebec. The team played its best basketball of the season as they went 3-0 on Thursday and Friday leading up to a big semi-final match-up vs. MTA on Saturday night. The Storm jumped out of the gate and never looked back as they hit shot after shot and played stifling defense all night long. The big win set up a championship game against the host school, the Hebrew Academy Heat on Sunday. In front of a packed gym, the Storm were relentless with their full court pressure and continued their hot shooting from 3. The game was pretty much decided by the fourth quarter as TABC rolled to a convincing victory.
Tournament MVP was Yis Kaminetzky who dominated the glass all tournament long and making first team was starting PG Eli Saks who played great ball all weekend long. The team had strong contributions from so many players and this was truly a team effort. The weekend was a great opportunity for the team to bond before what they hope will be a fun playoff run. In addition to the great basketball, the team had a wonderful Shabbat as they met students from a variety of different schools, which is always a highlight of basketball tournaments. After a few of the big wins the team went out to eat at Benny and Fils, a great burger place in Montreal, sponsored by some of our gracious parents. On Sunday night, the team returned to TABC with a banner, a trophy and a weekend of amazing memories.
