Deputy Mayor Launches Reflective-Belt Giveaway

Teaneck Deputy Mayor Elie Katz will be launching a reflective-belt giveaway campaign for Teaneck residents. While this program is also meant to emphasize pedestrian safety in light of the recent car crash, this is not Katz’s first local pedestrian safety campaign, which was launched in 2011 with Teaneck resident Harold Gellis, z”l, who died in February of last year. Katz and Gellis gave away reflective belts to Teaneck residents with the goal of minimizing the risk of pedestrian injuries and fatalities.

Gellis’ family has donated several thousand belts for this upcoming giveaway, which will be held in his memory. While the date, time and specific locations of the campaign’s launch sites have not been confirmed, Katz will be setting up different tables at local Teaneck hot spots, including Poppy’s Bagels and other local restaurants and shuls. Those interested can email him at [email protected] or call him at 201-715-5179 for more details.
