With Coronavirus concerns keeping some people stuck inside, Laizer Kornwasser, a Teaneck resident and professor at Yeshiva University, remembered being “stuck in YU as an out-of-towner” and wanted to do something for the 120 students “stuck” in YU this weekend. In just one day, “We had 120 fully stocked goody bags for the students who are stuck in YU, ” said Kornwasser, including over 200 homemade challahs, 1000 freshly baked cookies, 250 freshly baked muffins and more. This includes goods donated by Petak’s, Five Star, World of Goodies and Grand & Essex. Kornwasser also compiled a list of people willing to host students for Shabbat and Purim and is currently matching up interested students with hosts.
