The Marcos Katz Prize Will Be Awarded for the 45th Year

(Courtesy of Marcos Katz Prize) The Marcos Katz Prize will be awarded for the 45th year since the initiative by the late Marcos Katz and his wife, Adina, to award a prize seeking to encourage personalities and institutions working to implement and integrate Halacha into modern life. A few days ago, the period from which applications can be turned in for the prize began. The application period will continue until 11 Nissan (May 4).

Every year, many prestigious individuals and institutions operating according to the spirit and idea of the award apply for the prestigious prize.

Judges on the award committee are Prof. Menachem Ben-Sasson, Jerusalem Chief Rabbi Aryeh Stern and Rabbi Shlomo Dichovsky. This committee will sit on the dais and determine who will be the winners of the 5780 Marcos Katz Prize.

The $25,000 prize for each winner will be presented at a ceremony in Jerusalem this summer.

Last year’s winners were Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, Rabbi Ratzon Arusi, Rabbi Alfonso Pedazur Arbib and Prof. Yaacov Choueka.

The Marcos Katz Prize has been awarded since 1975 with the aim of encouraging and recognizing enterprises and personalities engaged in the application and integration of Halacha in modern life in written works and practical works. The late Mordechai David (Marcos) Katz was a Holocaust survivor, a renowned Zionist and accomplished in Israel and around the world. He and his wife, Adina, devoted much of their strength, fortune and time to Jewish education in Mexico, Israel and the United States.
