Charlie Harary will be the guest speaker at Shomrei Torah’s virtual NATEP Lag B’Omer program at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12. The event is being held in honor of the special milestone of NATEP’s completion of 14 years of learning and programming and in appreciation of all the support by community members.
It was 14 years ago on Lag B’Omer that 10 men, together with Rabbi Benjamin Yudin, started a learning and breakfast group on Tuesday mornings at Shomrei Torah in Fair Lawn. This was the beginning of what became known as Torah Tuesday. Over the years, the learning program expanded to four days a week, Mondays through Thursdays, with special Sunday learning programs.
In addition to the ongoing learning, an educational program was developed that has included museum trips, table tennis tournament fundraisers for local yeshivas, book signings, and attendance at Yankees games preceded barbecues and shiurim. In 2017, along with upgrading shiurim and programming, the name of the group was changed from Torah Tuesday to the Naftali Aron Torah Enrichment Program, or NATEP.
Due to the coronavirus, all trips and in-person events have been cancelled. In response, NATEP has increased its class schedule to six days a week, Sundays-Fridays, at 9:15 A.M.
