Lag B’Omer throughout JKHA brought fun and educational programming to the school day. Early childhood and lower school began their day on Lag B’Omer by coming together to learn about Lag B’Omer from principal Rabbi Srolovitz and to create their own bonfire crafts so that they can keep the flame of Torah burning in their homes.
Middle school students went on “field trips” in Israel on Lag B’Omer where via a live video over Zoom, tour guides, including JKHA alum Rabbi Yishai Fleisher (‘90) led students through Chevron and Shiloh. It was a surprise Lag B’Omer Maccabiah breakout for fifth and sixth graders as they rushed to complete the challenges and win points for their teams. The day was completed for middle school with a bonfire led by Rabbi Feit and family and inspirational words and singing from Rabbi Elie Mischel from Suburban Torah in Livingston.
Lag B’Omer was also put into context with a video from JKHA middle school Judaic Studies faculty to “Spread the Joy.” They challenged students to spread chesed by doing chesed, as one act of kindness inspires another.
