RYNJ Celebrates Yom Yerushalayim

What a fantastic Yom Yerushalayim! RYNJ families were invited to a Family Movie Night—a viewing of an original Yom Yerushalayim video starring RYNJ’s own Morah Aliza Picard. Picard teaches History of Medinat Yisrael and Ivrit remotely from her home in Israel. All the students enjoyed reviewing the history of Yerushalayim, learning about the miracles of the Six Day War and taking a tour of the Old City with Morah Aliza.

Children had the opportunity to participate in an enjoyable “YomYerushalayim Blue and White Day.” The two teams—Blue and White—were comprised of RYNJ families. There were activities throughout the day and siblings were encouraged to work together as a family. There was a live school-wide trivia challenge highlighting students’ knowledge of facts about Yerushalayim in a fun and exciting way.

During asynchronous periods, students tested their skills in an array of physical challenges aptly named for the day’s theme—Flying Home Challenge. There was tzanchanim parachute making and a mikdash shoe tower, to name a few. Students were also invited to work with their siblings to create an original 3D model of the Kotel, using any materials that are found around the house. The day ended with a live finale, when the children proudly displayed their Kotel models as they listened to the music of the day.
