JCC Thurnauer School Of Music Utilizes Unique Approaches to Virtual Learning

(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades) With its long history of excellence, the JCC Thurnauer School of Music is ready to engage with new and returning students virtually this fall. Registration is now open for a variety of at-home enrichment opportunities.

Dorothy Kaplan Roffman, Thurnauer’s founding director, passionately believes in the following philosophy: “Joining a music school is not only about learning to play an instrument. It is about the excitement and opportunity to experience and understand the range of responses one feels when listening to music and making music. Now, more than ever, it is important to continue the love and learning of music. At Thurnauer, we learn with joy, whether online or in person!”

The school offers an exciting and diverse music curriculum for students of all ages, beginner to conservatory prep, including private lessons, classes and orchestra, and choral, jazz and chamber ensembles. Thurnauer has active partnerships with public and private schools and is open to everyone in the community who has a desire to learn and enjoy music. Thurnauer has trimmed its schedule of recitals and concerts this year, yet is offering many opportunities for online performances.

Thurnauer’s staff has already begun to engage with the community as it gears up for this season, with an open house held via Zoom. The recorded sessions can be seen on facebook.com/JCCThurnauer.

JCC Thurnauer School of Music fall registration is underway; classes begin the week of October 5. The Virtual Open House sessions have been posted to the JCC Thurnauer School of Music’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
