Westchester Torah Academy held a special tekes (ceremony) to welcome first grade students from early childhood into lower school. The children walked through a decorated gate that read ‘Shalom Kitah Alef!’ as all in attendance sang and danced in their honor. Students received a beautiful bracha for success while standing under a tallit held by their teachers. A small gift that included a honey stick was given to each talmid/a with the blessing that their limudei Kodesh should always be as sweet as honey!
The first grade also had the opportunity of meeting Ariot the Lion who visited their classroom and presented them with their very first choveret (workbook). Kitah Alef is excited and ready to learn!
