(Courtesy of Jewish Journeys) What a difference a year makes! Last October, Jewish Journeys along with a team of community volunteers were busy sorting ingredients and preparing a huge venue in preparation for the 800 women who were registered to attend the yearly, Great BIG Challah Bake. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great BIG Challah Bake has morphed into The Great DISTANCED Challah Bake, limited to just 50 participants. Because of this year’s unique circumstances, Jewish Journeys and JYEP, two Bergen County-based Jewish outreach organizations, decided to join forces and create their own in-person, intimate challah bake for their participants. It will take place on Thursday evening, November 5, in a large, open tent located in the backyard of a home in Teaneck with social distancing and mask-wearing rules strictly enforced. Although this year’s challah bake will be quite different than in former years, it is promising to be an intimate, special and very memorable evening.
For those of you who look forward to participating in the yearly Great BIG Challah Bake, we are excited to announce that Project Inspire will be hosting a virtual Challah Bake, via Zoom, that will be open to individuals from around the country. It will take place on Wednesday evening, November 4, at 8 p.m. EST. It is free of charge. If you would like to participate, feel free to register at www.CB2020.SHABBATPROJECTAZ.ORG.
