JKHA Is Abuzz on Election Day

The energy of Election Day was felt all over JKHA! The youngest students in early childhood and lower school learned about the Electoral College and participated in an Electoral College-style vote to determine a dress-up day for this Friday. Each grade was a “state” with the number of electoral votes representing the number of students they have in their grade. In their individual classes students learned about the election and had their own class votes for topics on an ice cream flavor, what should be the next fairy tale book the class reads and more. After learning about the election the last several days, no matter what was on the ballot, everyone was excited to get out and vote!

Middle school had its own Election Day fever as they held elections for Student Council. After candidates campaigned the last several days, students watched speeches from each of the candidates with voting taking place online after school. In individual classes, they learned about the election in various ways including through simulations using a combination of strategy and math to fill out their own election maps, lessons on leadership and the elections as they shared their own input, interactive polls to determine their political stances and more.
