In Pre-k, students prepared for Thanksgiving through a focus on favorite fruits, vegetables and flowers that they enjoy at this time of year. They began by learning the life cycles of apples, pumpkins and sunflowers. Next, the children investigated an acorn squash through the five senses. They noticed the grooves on the outside and seeds on the inside, both having similarities to a pumpkin. They took out the seeds from the squash, apple and sunflower and planted them in the classroom. The students have been watering and watching the seeds daily and can’t wait for their hard work to start blossoming before their eyes!

Yavneh kindergarten students created their own thankful trees to show how thankful they are for all the wonderful things they have. They wrote down on paper what they were thankful for and then put the leaves on their trees. The children created corn paintings and decorated tree holders with them. The students are so proud to be bringing them home so they can be on their Thanksgiving tables.
