Chabad of Briarcliff/Ossining Plans Chanukah Car Menorah Parade

Amid the pandemic, Chabad Lubavitch of Briarcliff-Ossining recognized the crucial importance of bringing Chanukah’s message of light and hope to the Jewish community. To accomplish this, while adhering to COVID-19 safety protocol, Chabad will be having a Car Menorah Parade on Sunday, December 13, beginning at 3:30 p.m..

The parade will depart from 15 Campwoods Road in Ossining, traveling to five care facilities in Ossining and Briarcliff: Atria Briarcliff, The Club at Briarcliff Manor, Briarcliff Manor Center for Rehabilitation and Sunshine Children’s Home & Cedar Manor Nursing Center, and culminate in a drive-in giant menorah lighting in Ossining’s Market Square.

“While typically, we’re able to invite our community to join our two Chanukah menorah-lighting ceremonies, this year we are inviting them to participate in safely bringing Chanukah to those unable to attend due to coronavirus,” said Dovid Labkowski, rabbi and director of Chabad. “The Car Menorah Parade is a perfect way for Ossining and Briarcliff’s Jewish communities to show Jewish pride and celebrate Chanukah during the pandemic.

To ensure everyone is safe, all menorah lighting participants will be distanced in their own cars and wearing masks. Pre-packaged holiday treats-to-go will be distributed before the parade. RSVP will be required as space is limited.

Chabad will also be offering a number of other safe Chanukah events, including a children’s virtual storytime and a teen event on Zoom.
