The community day schools in Bergen County announced this week that schools will be shortening winter break by two days, giving students one full week away from school. Vacation will run from January 25 through Jan 31 and students will return to school for in-person instruction on February 1. Schools included in this decision were The Moriah School, Yeshivat Noam, Yavneh Academy, Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey, Yeshivat He’Atid, Lubavitch on the Palisades Preschool/Tenafly Chabad Academy and Ben Porat Yosef.
At press time, local high schools had not joined this effort. Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls extended its break by one day, while Yeshivat Frisch decided to keep its vacation as is—a full 10 days off from school.
The heads of school urged families to adhere to state guidelines and make safety paramount in whatever plans they make during the break.
