In preparation of first grade’s informational writing unit, the students created an informational class book about Chanukah. They learned that writers write about topics that they know a lot about. The students had so much to share about Chanukah, their ideas filled up each page.

The class made sure to write an introduction to their book, and organize their information by topics just like in many of the informational texts they have read in class. Then, they sent their Chanukah book to the kindergarten classes so they can learn more about the upcoming holiday. The students are very proud and the kindergartners loved the book!
