And the winner of the Teaneck Chili Cookoff is…Noah’s Ark! Each of the six participating restaurants had many votes. Fifty families were chosen to pick up packages with samples, hold family tastings at home and vote for their favorite. “We’re so fortunate to have lots of talented kosher chefs here,” said one participant. Chef David Kirschner also weighed in with his choice.
Noam Sokolow, owner of Noah’s Ark, is a chili veteran. He confidently predicted his win in last week’s article that announced the contest. “We’ve had the best chili in Teaneck for the past 25 to 30 years,” he said.
All the restaurants’ chili got great reviews, so the chili is now known to be great at The Humble Toast, Sender’s Smoke Joint, Dougie’s, Teaneck Doghouse, Yalla! and Noah’s Ark!
Jacob Goldberg, the new owner of Yalla! dreamed up and organized the contest. Goldberg has gotten many notes like this one from Laurie Beckerman: “A huge thank you to Yalla for organizing this competition and to all the restaurants for participating! My family had a blast tasting the different chilis and debating which one was our favorite. It was such a fun and delicious activity! Happy Chanukah!”
