TBO Registration Is Underway

Winter may have only just begun, but it is never too early to start thinking about spring. Registration for the Teaneck Baseball Organization (TBO) spring 2021 season is now open, with programs available for children from pre-k to ninth grade. Following the successful, COVID-friendly summer and fall programs, TBO is excited to be offering another season for the children of Teaneck.

In these trying times, when so much has been turned upside down, especially for young children, the TBO board felt it was especially important to strive to create an environment where things could be as normal as possible. Baseball operates in a way that is more conducive to social distancing and following COVID rules, whereas other sports cannot be played in such a fashion. With this in mind, TBO felt a responsibility to serve the community by filling the void left by other sports.

Much time and effort has been spent by the TBO board and volunteers to ensure a safe spring season. All COVID guidelines will be followed, including masks, limited attendance at games, and distancing rules in place and enforced for both spectators and team members. The TBO board has spent a significant amount of money on hand sanitizer and PPE, as well as TBO masks, which were given out for the summer and fall programs and will be distributed for the spring season as well. Additionally, to avoid any problems with shared equipment, each player will use his or her own bat, helmet and gloves, and each team will have its own ball. To facilitate this, TBO has stocked up on extra equipment for children who cannot bring their own, and will include batting gloves as an addition to the standard uniform order.

Even with all the extra precautions in place, and the general programming improvements TBO has made and will continue to make, prices for the spring season will remain the same as they have been in past years. These are tough times for everyone, and TBO is always open to help and generous with scholarship requests. TBO is a nonprofit organization, a community service whose goal is to enable as many kids to play as possible.

Registration is open until January 15, after which sign ups will incur a $20 late fee. Go to teaneckbaseball.org or email [email protected] to register.
