Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

RYNJ kindergarten students have been learning all about the Solar System. The yeladim began exploring this exciting unit by discussing thought provoking questions like, “How do we know what is going on in space?” and “Can life exist anywhere else besides Earth?” Students learned new vocabulary words like planets, orbit, revolve, explore and discover. They learned the names of the planets and researched the varying characteristics of each one. The children acted as planets orbiting the sun to understand what causes day and night. The yeladim loved shining flashlights on to their classroom globes to see this as well. Dramatic play centers were transformed into space stations, with space suits to wear, a “rocket ship” to play in and telescopes. Catchy songs about the planets and solar system could be heard throughout RYNJ classes!
