The Jewish Link asked: What changes has the coronavirus prompted that you want to preserve?
Naomi David responded (as told to her mother, Rachel Gittleman David):
COVID-19 is not so bad. Although there are many bad things that happened, including Zoom school, there are some changes to the world that I hope will stay.
- The limits on how many people can be at different places have made it more enjoyable. For example, the lines at Six Flags this year were so short, and I was able to go on so many rides in a short amount of time. I also liked that we were able to rent out one of our favorite indoor activities, Genius Gems, and have the place all to ourselves!
- I became a good bike rider, and we found new places to explore right in our backyard. For example, we learned that we can leave our house and ride to the D&R canal towpath. It is really beautiful there with water on both sides of the path. We also rode our bikes on the Sandy Hook bike trail. We explored the lighthouse and even saw seals in the water at low tide! There are so many cool things to discover there.
- Another great perk is that there is so much less traffic to these places now.
- My father is home earlier because his commute is easier with less traffic.
- I like social distancing because now I don’t need to give hugs to all the people who ask for them from little kids. I am not a hug person.
- I like wearing a mask because I can make silly faces underneath without anyone realizing. It also keeps me warm in the cold weather.
I am thankful for COVID-19 for these positive changes.
