RKYHS Students ‘Go Purple’ to Promote Healthy Relationships

RKYHS joined together for “Go Purple Day” today to raise support and awareness around domestic abuse, organized through the Shalom Task Force and Project S.A.R.A.H. RKYHS was one of 12 schools in six states that participated in “Go Purple Day.”

Four juniors have been taking part in the prestigious Purple Fellowship through the Shalom Task Force this year. The fellowship allows high school juniors to gain important leadership skills while deepening their understanding of domestic abuse in the Jewish community. The students helped plan and organize the program for “Go Purple Day.” Juniors and seniors watched a video put together by Shalom Task Force about healthy relationships, which included testimonials from victims, and also included messaging from Rabbi Abraham Twerski z”l, who was a critical voice for victims of domestic abuse. Students then joined together in peer-led breakout groups, facilitated by the Shalom Task Force Fellows to have the opportunity to debrief the program.
