After learning about the connection between electricity and magnetism, students in Mr. Kogut’s seventh grade science class built both electromagnets and motors. Students saw how electricity can be used to make certain metals temporarily magnetic and how that can be useful. To end off the activity, they opened up the motor in a fan to see how that same concept is used in so much of the technology that we use.
