Last week, the seventh grade welcomed Shabbat with a very special Shabbat-IN. Dressed in festive attire, the students started their morning with a meaningful tefillah. They then participated in glow in the dark team building challenges. Each class had to work together to complete the task at hand. The glow in the dark atmosphere added a special component to the activity. The next stop was a BPY Cake Wars. Each student was given a mini Zadies cake, icing, chocolate chips and sprinkles. The students used their creativity and cake decorating skills to create unique and delicious desserts for their Shabbat table. There are some aspiring cake decorators at BPY!

The students then ran two games which they organized and prepared for their classmates. The students enjoyed the good sportsmanship. Following the busy morning, the students devoured the delicious “Shabbat lunch” catered by Parties by Shimon. No Shabbat celebration is complete without cholent, cutlets and potato kugel. After lunch, the students enjoyed relaxing and playing games with their classmates during menucha time. The last project based activity was a Havdala workshop where students made beautiful Havdala candles and besamim. The celebration ended with a seudah shlishit oneg. The students heard inspiring words from Mr. Strassman and Rabbi Zucker. The Shabbat-IN ended with a ruach filled kumzitz! This was the perfect way to welcome in Shabbat!
