In honor of Rosh Chodesh Nissan, TCA middle school students enjoyed an immersive, hands-on matzah bakery experience. During this experiential learning with Rabbi Grossbaum from the model Matzah Bakery, the students learned the significance and art involved in producing a shmurah matzah. Beginning with separating the wheat from the chaff, grinding it into flour, using room temperature water, kneading the dough and puncturing it to prevent rising, the students actively took part in the process. Aiming to bake their own shmurah matzah within 18 minutes, each student walked out not only with their own freshly baked matzah, but also deep and inspirational lessons to share with their families at the Pesach Seder.
