The Yeshivat He’Atid second grade students returned to school from Pesach break, eager to learn and complete their geography research project. The children explored the planet and researched various geographical locations. Throughout this unit, the students studied research writing and followed the research process. They prepared a research plan by selecting a location to research and by asking specific questions about the location to identify what information they would need to answer their questions. The students used both primary and secondary sources to gather more information about their topics through online and text resources. Throughout the research process, the second graders learned to take notes on the information they collected and work with their teachers to form organized paragraphs. At the end of the unit, the students each published their research books, complete with nonfiction text features and a class poster contest!
