Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

The students at Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva attended an unbelievably moving and powerful Yom HaShoah program, led by Rebecca Bick. It was conducted over Zoom for the middle school grades, and featured childrens’ perspectives on various experiences during the Holocaust, such as Kristallnacht, being hungry, the trains and the brutality of Nazi soldiers.

The program was co-sponsored by the Hilsenrath family in memory of their matriarch, Rebbetzin Devorah Hilsenrath, a”h. Rebbetzin Hilsenrath, a Holocaust survivor, shared her incredible story with students over the years and left an indelible mark on the RPRY family and the entire community.

It was also co-sponsored by Dr. Felice Zwas in memory of her father, Jack Zwas, a”h, uncle of Penny (and Michael) Kaplan.. Zwas, a Holocaust survivor, was a pillar of his communities in Brooklyn and Fort Lee and led the efforts to build shuls in both communities to assure Jewish educational and religious continuity.

Through programs such as this one, RPRY continues to keep alive the memory of the kedoshim who perished in the Holocaust and those who survived it.
