Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations at JKHA began with a school-wide tekes as everyone gathered together as one on the field and amphitheater to hear inspiring words from Head of School Rabbi Rubin, say tefillot for Israel, and enjoy a school-wide “Hatikvah” and an incredible daglanut performance from the eighth grade girls.

Early childhood and lower school rotated between Israel-focused activities. Stations included a celebration of Israeli agriculture and technology where students decorated and made their own planters and “Israeli recess” where students learned outdoor games that Israeli kids would play outside in Israel like shalosh makot and soccer skill challenges.

Middle school students enjoyed a viewing of their classmates in a video of the song “Katan Aleinu.” Following the morning assembly, Middle school students participated in an Israeli Hall of Fame scavenger hunt, trying to identify the Israeli figure from history from the gallery of license plate projects that the seventh and eighth graders created. Students also celebrated with their grades at a Yom Ha’atzmaut black-light silent DJ party.
