Parshat Kedoshim:
The prohibition against speaking lashon hara. The Lubavitcher Rebbe said that words have the power to bring latent energy into actuality. We should try to only speak nicely about others to reinforce their good midot.
On Israel:
In Yerushalayim …Rav Mordechai Machlis opens up his home to hundreds of strangers every Shabbos to feed them delicious food and teach them Torah. This has taught me the true essence of the mitzvah of Hachnasat Orchim.
On blessings:
I feel blessed each day as I work to lead my best life. Simultaneously I am praying for strength, comfort and healing for my mom, Lorraine Vogel and close friend, Shira Shatzkes.
On special parents:
Watching my parents run Ma Tov Day Camp, I learned the importance of dedication, creativity, and believing in oneself.
On being married to Amy Vogel:
Married to a fundraising professional, I always have to watch my pockets!
On 20 years of marriage:
If it wasn’t for Amy, I’d be sitting on the couch in my boxers eating potato chips and watching Sports Center.
On being a distracted student:
I want to share a message to today’s students to believe in themselves… many of those who don’t have an easy time in school will still soar in life.
On the Rinat Chulent championship:
I won… by sprinkling parve Cheese Curls on top, to get the kids’ vote. It worked!
Words of advice:
Remember life is short and any time you have a chance to make somebody else smile … take it. Same applies to yourself!
