Dear Shayna B.,
I am a huge fan! I read your column every week and I have a problem I hope you could help me with. We are finally getting to go on a school trip! It’s exciting, but they won’t let us choose our roommates. I got put with the most annoying kid in our grade, and no one will switch with me. I’m starting to think that I shouldn’t go on the trip. But it’s our only trip and I really wanna go. What should I do? I need you!
Sincerely,
Confused Cameron
Dear Confused Cameron,
What makes you think this person is annoying? What can this person do to stop being annoying? The most important part of stopping this person from “being annoying” is stopping yourself from being annoyed. Don’t think I’m telling you to get this person to change because of the two questions I put above. You think that person’s annoying. Guess what? Everyone’s a little annoying, kid. You should go on the trip and have a good time. And if you don’t go on the trip, it’s your own fault. It’s not the person that’s the problem, it’s yours. I’m almost positive if you guys did things together and you asked the person to be your friend that the person will be a lot less annoying. If after all this you still can’t get over the kid’s annoyingness, remember, you’ll only be in the room a couple hours a day.
Best of luck,
Shayna B.
