As the situation in Israel escalated, many RKYHS students were overwhelmed by trying to process what they’re hearing about. In addition to the actual conflict taking place, social media has become another battleground. Students are being faced with a barrage of virulent anti-Israel, and often straight-out anti-Semitic content.
Led by faculty member Henny Bochner, students at RKYHS engaged in sessions for each grade, providing them with tools to help them respond to and help them process the feelings of discomfort, often from watching celebrities and influencers they respect call out Israel. The sessions focused on the current security situation and how things are different compared to similar incidents in the past, and allowed students an opportunity to discuss how and when to respond to conversations on social media.
