Imagine flying through the air on a human swing, balancing yourself on a thin wire tightrope, climbing a huge wooden ladder 25 feet high, scaling a challenging rock climbing wall, dangling over the park on a high trapeze or maintaining your equilibrium as you climb a tall swinging tire wall. RYNJ seventh grade girls had a sensational day at Ring Homestead doing all of this and more!
When trip day finally arrived, the weather was truly magnificent, as the girls enjoyed the beautiful wooded paths and ropes courses. The seventh grade students excitedly worked on fine tuning their clear communication skills, problem solving skills and even their critical thinking skills by accomplishing some amazing challenges. These activities helped them develop confidence, utilize a growth mindset, persevere even when the going was a bit tough and amaze themselves with all that could be mastered when they supported each other and enthusiastically cheered one another on!
Comments such as: “You can do this!,” “It’s so high, but I really want to try,” “I never knew that I could really scale a rock wall with gloves on!” “Can’t believe I walked across the tightrope!” and “This was one of the best trips ever!” were continuously heard throughout the day.
The Ring Homestead leaders and RYNJ teachers were outstanding in every way, inspiring the girls to be their very best! There is no question that the students were model campers and they received the highest compliments from the Ring Homestead staff. Before boarding the buses and saying goodbye, hearty cheers were shared by all.
The girls returned to RYNJ after a fabulous day of fun and learning—as well as getting to know much more about one another and themselves!
